The other side

Ok, another sneak peek...the other side of the kitchen/dining room. Again, no more borders or dark red walls! We also installed a chandelier for our only dining space in the house. I apologize again for the poor quality of the "after" picture, it was taken with my phone. More pics to come! :)

Our new home sweet home...the before

We are in the middle of making our house our home before we move. We have a great paint crew going in and freshening the entire house and it is going to look completely different. Here are some pictures that were on the MLS posting. There are a few rooms missing, but we'll include the after pictures later. Enjoy!

Front of the house:

We'll just be doing some landscaping later this spring/summer.

Kitchen looking into upstairs living room:

Kitchen: Dining Room:
We are removing the wall paper border in the kitchen/dining room repainting it a lighter/fresher color.

Upstairs Living Room:

We are removing the border and painting a lighter color.

Laundry:
Plans: new washer and dryer, repainting, and hanging IKEA cabinets and installing an IKEA pantry.

Master Bedroom:

Getting rid of the faux finish and repainting.

Master Bath:

Plans: repainting for now with plans for next year to redo the shower.

Upstairs Guest Rooms (no pics, sorry):

The previous owners had a little girl that loved bright neon colors. We are repainting that room and neutralizing the other guest room upstairs.

Guest Room in Basement:

Heidi's future sewing/craft room! :)

Plans: Repainting this room and adding an IKEA wardrobe system for Heidi's sewing/craft supplies. The treadmill will also find it's home in this room.

Downstairs Den:

This is where we'll be hanging out most of the time since it's yard level for the dogs to go in and out easier.

Plans: repainting and adding a new IKEA entertainment center.

2011 started off with a bang!

Well, really, 2010 ended with a bang. In late December, Heidi was approached by a company in Hickory, NC about joining their Organizational Development Team. At first, she was hesitant because she would be leaving a great job at ASU and there were other factors to consider. After making a company visit in early January and talking through all the pros/cons with Greg, they decided this was an opportunity she could not pass on. Knowing that Heidi could not commute daily from Boone to Hickory for work, we decided that we would need to start looking for houses somewhere between Boone and Hickory. We have been looking to buy a house in Boone for the past couple of years and never could find anything that was within our price range that did not require major work. To say finding housing off the mountain is easier is an understatement. Unfortunately due to the economic situation, Caldwell and Catawba counties' housing markets are depressed, but that is a good thing for buyers in the market. After only looking at four houses we found our house! We closed on April 8th and will be moving on April 20th. This house is in move-in condition, however, we did not like the paint choices the previous owners had chosen. We have a paint crew getting the interior of the house look brand new this week before we move next. They say things happen for a reason and God truly had his hand in on this from the beginning. Heidi is blessed to have joined a successful and growing company where integrity is important among the leadership. Since taking this position, everything has fallen into place and we are very excited to see what else He has in store for us on this new journey.
